As we work together to put the needs of the patient first, we are also dedicated to our employees, investing in competitive compensation and comprehensive benefit plans to take care of you and your family, now and in the future. With continuing education and advancement opportunities at every turn, you can build a long, successful career with Mayo Clinic.

About the Role

This position supports the Residential Addiction programs at the Generose Building within the Inpatient Addictions Program. Addictions treatment programs at Mayo Clinic take an individualized holistic approach within a respectful, professional environment. Patients are treated by multidisciplinary care teams which ensures each patient receives comprehensive treatment that addresses alcohol and/or other substance abuse, emotional health, and spiritual wellbeing.

The Psychiatric Technician is an integral member of the psychiatric residential and hospital-based psych emergency services team, participating in both direct and indirect patient care for adults and children. At the direction of a registered nurse, the Psychiatric Technician promotes involvement in the treatment program. This role assists residents in various social, clinical, nutritional, and observational activities to ensure optimal patient outcomes and a safe patient milieu.

The Psychiatric Technician plays a crucial role in ongoing safety observation, assessment of the milieu, and identification of escalation of concerning behaviors. Additionally, this role leads social activities, games, and crafts that promote patient engagement in the milieu and help patients practice therapy concepts they are learning within their individualized care plans. The position may float to additional residential programs within the Psychiatry department and supports coverage for the Outpatient Addictions Programs for adults age 18 or older.

Hiring Process

Internal applicants should attach their three most recent performance appraisals to their application. As a condition of employment, individuals working with addictions services must be free from problematic substance use for a minimum of the immediately preceding two years at the time of hire.

Equal Opportunity

All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, national origin, protected veteran status, or disability status. Mayo Clinic participates in E-Verify and may provide the Social Security Administration and, if necessary, the Department of Homeland Security with information from each new employee's Form I-9 to confirm work authorization.
