The Psychiatric Technician is an integral member of the psychiatric residential team at the John E. Herman Home and Treatment Center, a residential treatment program for adults with serious persistent mental illness (SPMI). The program is organized around functional and vocational recovery, utilizing group and individual therapy, medication management based on cognitive and behavioral principles, and milieu-based activities to help residents engage in a productive and value-driven life.
In this role, you will participate in both direct and indirect patient care for adults and children. At the direction of a registered nurse, you will promote involvement in the treatment program by assisting residents in various social, clinical, nutritional, and observational activities to ensure optimal patient outcomes and a safe patient milieu. You will play a crucial role in ongoing safety observation, assessing the milieu, and identifying the escalation of concerning behaviors. Additionally, you will lead social activities, games, and crafts that promote patient engagement in the milieu and help them practice therapy concepts learned within their individualized care plans.
