The Department of Psychiatry at the University of Florida is engaged in groundbreaking projects covering a variety of interests through its centers, labs, and collaborations with other departments. The department includes a large outpatient center with various specialty clinics, an active inpatient service, and a psychiatry collaborative program for primary care practitioners. Services span adult, addiction, and child/adolescent specializations, featuring a freestanding psychiatric hospital, a consult liaison service at UF Shands Hospital, and multiple research centers including the Center for Addiction Research & Education and the Center for OCD and Related Disorders (COARD).
The Research Assistant I will play a vital role in the UF Adolescent Brain Cognitive Development (ABCD) Study, a large-scale national collaborative research project that follows children, aged 9 and 10 at outset, into young adulthood. This position serves as a primary point of contact for participants, assisting with scheduling, consenting/assenting parents and youth, and corresponding via phone, email, and mail.
You will work directly with child and parent participants to administer the study protocol, utilizing tools such as REDcap, iPad applications, and E-prime based fMRI tasks. The role involves collecting biological samples, including hair, saliva, urine, and breath samples, and managing the logistics of human subject transportation to and from the study office. Additionally, you will monitor study supplies, coordinate the shipping of biological samples to laboratories, and prepare payments for youth participants and their guardians.
