Butler Hospital, a Brown University-affiliated psychiatric facility established in 1844, is one of the earliest psychiatric hospitals in the United States. The Behavioral Medicine and Addictions Research group is a vibrant hub of academic psychologists, post-doctoral fellows, and research staff. Our work is funded by numerous federal and private grants, focusing on mood disorders, substance use, chronic pain, digital health, mindfulness, and physical activity promotion.
We strive to build an inclusive and creative culture that benefits both our staff and the diverse patients we serve across Rhode Island and neighboring states. Our team is dedicated to advancing medical research and engaging in important discussions about patient health.
