At Shalom House Inc., we have been providing safe, supportive homes and community-based programs for adults living with mental health diagnoses for over 50 years. We believe that everyone deserves dignity, respect, and the opportunity to live a meaningful life—on their own terms. Our team is made up of everyday heroes who support our residents with patience, care, and a whole lot of heart.
We operate programs in Portland, Saco, and Biddeford. We are looking for compassionate, committed individuals who find purpose in helping others and believe in second chances, personal growth, and the power of a kind word.
As a Relief Residential Support Worker, you will play a vital role in keeping our programs running smoothly across different locations. You will step in as needed to provide flexibility, reliability, and compassionate care to the individuals we serve. This is a unique opportunity for someone who enjoys variety in their work and wants to make a difference on their own schedule, making it an ideal second job in the field.
In this role, you will be a source of encouragement and stability for adults living with chronic and persistent mental health challenges. Your day-to-day might involve helping with daily routines, joining in a group outing, or simply sharing a conversation over coffee. Whether you are assisting with medication management, participating in fun activities like art projects and game nights, or being present during moments of challenge and celebration, you will help our residents live more independently and confidently.
We'd love to hear from you! Please send your resume and a short cover letter telling us why this role speaks to you.
Note: No phone calls or walk-ins, please.
At Shalom House Inc., we celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees and residents. We strongly encourage individuals of all backgrounds, identities, and lived experiences to apply. We are proud to be an equal opportunity employer.
