The Bureau of Field Operations is dedicated to safeguarding the health and safety of Floridians by overseeing the survey and certification process for healthcare facilities across the state. Our mission is to ensure that all state-licensed and federally certified facilities meet rigorous state and federal requirements, guaranteeing that patients and residents receive safe, quality care. Beyond routine compliance, our team plays a critical role in protecting residents during emergencies, including natural disasters, by coordinating safety protocols and resource allocation.
As a Regulatory Specialist I, you will serve as a vital link within the Complaint and Incident Management Unit of the Division of Health Quality Assurance. In this professional capacity, you will exercise independent judgment to analyze consumer complaints, resolve issues, and communicate complex healthcare information to the public, facilities, and government agencies. Your work ensures that nursing home complaints are accurately transferred to federal databases within strict timeframes and that data entry into systems like ACTS/iQIES and Versa is precise and timely.
You will function as part of a dynamic team, handling high-volume call intake, routing consumer inquiries in a friendly and efficient manner, and drafting correspondence on behalf of the unit. This role requires the ability to identify patterns of suspicious facility activities and alert supervisors to problematic situations. As a mission-essential position, you may be required to work weekends, holidays, or during emergencies to support disaster response efforts, potentially staffing locations outside your home county to assist other state agencies.
To apply, candidates must submit a complete application including all required documentation. Veterans claiming preference under Chapter 295, Florida Statutes, must attach supporting documentation, such as a DD Form 214, by the closing date of the vacancy announcement.
All applicants are subject to a comprehensive background screening, including State and National criminal history checks, fingerprinting through the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) and the FBI, and local checks as necessary. Employment is contingent upon the successful review and approval of these results. Candidates requiring reasonable accommodations under the Americans with Disabilities Act must notify the hiring authority or the People First Service Center in advance to allow sufficient time for arrangement.
