This position is part of the Behavioral Services department at the MATS Center, a vital component of UNM Health Systems. The team is dedicated to providing comprehensive care and support within a specialized behavioral health environment, ensuring that patients receive seamless administrative and financial assistance alongside their clinical treatment.
As a key first point of contact in our Ambulatory and Outpatient Operations, you will serve as the bridge between patients, law enforcement agencies, and our healthcare providers. This role is essential for ensuring that every patient, including those in the custody of law enforcement, is properly registered, eligible for care, and financially supported before they begin their journey with us.
You will navigate complex insurance landscapes, verifying coverage and benefits while guiding patients through financial assistance programs such as UNM Hospital charity care, NM Medicaid, and other state and federal resources. Your work ensures that no patient is turned away due to administrative hurdles, allowing them to focus on their recovery. The role involves a dynamic mix of front-desk operations, data management, and patient advocacy, requiring you to handle sensitive information with professionalism and empathy.
Candidates with a High School diploma or GED equivalent and two years of directly related experience are encouraged to apply. Bilingual proficiency in Keres, Tewa, Tiwa, Towa, Zuni, or Navajo is highly valued and will be considered a significant asset for serving our diverse community.
