This position is part of the Behavioral Services department at the MATS Center, a vital component of UNM Health Systems dedicated to providing comprehensive mental health and substance use treatment. The team operates within a supportive environment focused on patient-centered care, ensuring that individuals in need receive timely and accessible services.
As a key member of the Ambulatory/Outpatient Operations team, you will serve as the first point of contact for patients, particularly those in the custody of law enforcement agencies (PICLEA), as they arrive for care. This role is designed to streamline the patient journey by managing pre-registration, registration, and financial navigation before clinical services begin.
Your day will involve verifying insurance coverage, obtaining necessary prior authorizations, and assisting patients in navigating complex financial options, including UNM Health Systems financial assistance, NM Medicaid, and other state and federal programs. You will act as a liaison between clinic staff, providers, and insurance companies to coordinate benefits and ensure smooth process flow. Additionally, you will support the team by training registration personnel and conducting outreach to clinical areas to maintain high standards of customer service and operational efficiency.
Candidates with a High School diploma or GED equivalent and at least two years of directly related experience are encouraged to apply. Bilingual proficiency in Keres, Tewa, Tiwa, Towa, Zuni, or Navajo is highly valued and may be considered a non-essential preference.
