DMC Sinai-Grace Hospital is the Detroit Medical Center's largest facility, renowned for its comprehensive heart center, cancer care, and a revolutionary minimally invasive joint replacement program that attracts patients nationwide. As one of only 10 hospitals in the nation awarded a Robert Wood Johnson Foundation grant, Sinai-Grace sets the standard for cardiac care across the country. The hospital operates over 21 outpatient care sites and ambulatory surgery centers throughout Wayne and Oakland Counties, serving as a hub for emergency medicine, obstetrics/gynecology, and gerontology.
The Unit Specializes in 1 West is the designated rehabilitation unit, featuring 12 beds. This team cares for patients transferred from multiple units following orthopedic surgeries, post-trauma events, and motor vehicle accidents (MVA), as well as those requiring long-term acute care. The unit fosters a collaborative environment with daily team conferences involving physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy. Registered Nurses here work with a 1:6 ratio based on acuity and are trained in EKG interpretation to support complex patient needs.
As a Registered Nurse on the Patient Care Services Team, you will manage and provide comprehensive nursing care for a group of patients and their families. This role goes beyond clinical tasks; it encompasses leadership, partnership, collaboration, teaching, and supervision. You will apply independent judgment to delegate, assess, provide, and evaluate patient care activities, while monitoring patient progress and preparing them for discharge.
Success in this position requires establishing and maintaining collaborative relationships with physicians and other healthcare providers. You will work closely with ancillary and support services to ensure the satisfactory completion of care for your assigned patients. Reporting directly to senior unit management, you will also participate in shared decision-making activities that shape the unit's operations and patient outcomes.
