About the Role
This position is a vital part of the Postpartum/GYN team at Avera McKennan Hospital. As an experienced Registered Nurse, you will deliver comprehensive nursing care by developing nursing diagnoses, establishing care objectives, and defining interventions. Your day will involve providing physical, emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to patients, families, and friends, ensuring they understand their conditions, medications, and self-care skills.
You will be the bridge between the patient and the broader healthcare team, reviewing physician prescriptions, coordinating care, and conferring with physicians to adjust plans as patient needs evolve. A significant portion of your role involves teaching healthcare requirements, instructing families on self-care, and maintaining a safe, secure environment by adhering to infection-control policies and legal regulations. You will also manage patient care equipment and supplies to ensure seamless operations.
Schedule & Highlights
This is a regular, full-time position within the Postpartum/GYN unit. The schedule is a rotating shift pattern covering days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays. You will work 72 hours over a two-week period, consisting of 12-hour shifts, including every third weekend and holiday. Occasional call duties may be required. This role is specifically designed for experienced RNs.
