As a Registered Nurse at the Avera Grassland Campus, you will provide essential care and treatment to patients on maintenance dialysis. This role is pivotal in supporting patients and their caregivers, offering major portions of self-care and home dialysis training. You will act as a patient advocate, collaborating closely with Medical Directors, Nephrologists, families, and ancillary departments to coordinate comprehensive care.
Your day will involve maintaining technical proficiency in dialysis treatments, ensuring compliance with water room equipment operations, and upholding strict safety and infection control standards. You will also identify patient learning needs and develop educational plans regarding the dialysis process and access management. This position operates on a varied shift schedule, typically 72 hours over two weeks, primarily during days with rotating weekends and holidays.

Certified Hemodialysis Nurse (CHN), Certified Peritoneal Dialysis Nurse (CPDN), Certified Dialysis Nurse (CDN), Specialty Certification from The American Society of Histocompatibility & Immunogenetics (ASHI), Dialysis experience, critical care experience, 1-3 years nursing experience if functioning as a home dialysis nurse, and an additional 3 months experience in each of the specific modalities (hemodialysis or peritoneal dialysis) for which the nurse will provide self-care training.
