This position provides specialized care and treatment to patients on maintenance dialysis within the scope of nursing practice. As a dialysis nurse, you will play a critical role in supporting patients and their caregivers, providing major portions of self-care and home dialysis training. You will act as a patient and family advocate, collaborating with medical directors, nephrologists, and ancillary departments to coordinate comprehensive care.
Your day-to-day involves performing and maintaining technical proficiency in dialysis treatments, ensuring compliance with water room equipment operations, and upholding strict safety and infection control standards. You will identify patient learning needs and develop educational plans regarding the dialysis process and access management. This role requires working effectively in a team environment while adhering to Avera's CARE standards (Communication, Attitude, Responsiveness, and Engagement).
This is a regular position based at Avera Sacred Heart Hospital in the United States. The work shift is primarily days with rotating weekends and holidays. Specific hours include:

Certified Hemodialysis Nurse (CHN), Certified Peritoneal Dialysis Nurse (CPDN), Certified Dialysis Nurse (CDN), Specialty Certification from the American Society of Histocompatibility & Immunogenetics (ASHI), dialysis experience, critical care experience, 1-3 years nursing experience if functioning as a home dialysis nurse, and additional 3 months experience in each specific modality (hemodialysis or peritoneal dialysis) for which the nurse will provide self-care training.
