About the Role
Jump-start your career as a Registered Nurse in the Open Heart unit. This role exists to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care within a dynamic interdisciplinary team consisting of providers, surgeons, and surgical technologists. You will be an integral part of a culture built on mutual respect and collaboration, where your voice is heard through regular rounding with unit leaders to improve patient care and surgical workflow.
In this position, you will evaluate patients prior to surgery, manage evidence-based practices, and apply critical thinking and scientific judgment to independently deliver safe nursing care. Your day will involve assessing patient conditions, monitoring shifts, and documenting changes thoroughly. You will also provide essential education to patients and families regarding procedures, medical conditions, and follow-up measures. The role requires participation in surgical site verification protocols and the ability to recognize and respond to patient emergencies.

Key Responsibilities
- check_circleEvaluate patients prior to surgery
- check_circleProvide patient and family education surrounding the procedure and peri-operative process
- check_circleAssume responsibility for patient preparation including intravenous therapy and surgical site verification
- check_circleParticipate in surgical site verification including briefing, time out, and debriefing
- check_circleRecognize and respond to patient emergencies
- check_circleAssess patient condition, monitor throughout shift, and document changes thoroughly
- check_circleEducate patients and families about medical condition, treatment, and follow-up measures
Requirements
- verifiedFlorida RN license or approved multistate RN license
- verifiedBLS-AHA Provider card required within 30 days
- verifiedACLS and PALS required within 6 months
- verifiedMinimum 1 year perioperative experience or completion of Perioperative Nursing course preferred
- verified1 year RN experience in Acute Care environment preferred
- verifiedBSN preferred
- verifiedCNOR preferred
Nice to Have
Minimum 1 year previous perioperative experience or completion of Perioperative Nursing course. 1 year of RN experience in an Acute Care environment. BSN degree. CNOR certification.
