About the Role
The Ortho Surgery RN Program Coordinator is a leadership opportunity within a brand-new department at Lutheran Hospital. As one of the first leaders on the team, you will join a creative, hardworking, and close-knit group of surgeons and Ortho OR RN professionals. This role exists to supervise hospital activities and coordinate between patient care areas and other departments, ensuring the delivery of safe and appropriate patient care for a specific shift.
You will bring your body, mind, heart, and spirit to your work. In this position, you will serve as a role model, mentor, and clinical resource, supporting associates in resolving patient and unit issues while fostering a culture of commitment to patient-focused service and innovation.
About the Team & Location
Lutheran Hospital has served the Wheat Ridge and surrounding communities for over 100 years. Evolving from a tuberculosis sanitarium into a top-tier facility, we opened a brand-new facility in 2024 to provide greater access to life-saving emergency services. Our Operating Room features 9 surgical suites, including a heart room and a cystoscopy room, with Orthopedics as our largest service line. We are proud to be a Heart and Neurovascular Center, an accredited Chest Pain Center, a Comprehensive Stroke Center, and a Level II Trauma Center.

Key Responsibilities
- check_circleSupervise, lead, and coordinate activities of nursing personnel to ensure safe patient care
- check_circleServe as a clinical resource and mentor to staff while resolving patient and unit issues
- check_circleParticipate in performance improvement activities, new initiatives, and unit leadership functions
- check_circleAssist with managing staff, projects, budgets, and other related leadership activities
- check_circleAssess and develop recommendations for new or revised nursing policies, procedures, and guidelines
- check_circlePerform clinical RN responsibilities as needed to support patient care delivery
- check_circleOversee personnel training, orientation, and ensure compliance with policies and accreditation standards
- check_circleManage daily staffing, productivity, and appropriate staff assignments in the assigned department
Requirements
- verifiedBSN from an accredited program
- verifiedCurrent Colorado RN license or compact license
- verifiedCurrent BLS certification (American Heart Association)
- verifiedMinimum of three (3) years of RN experience
- verified3-5 Years Ortho or Neuro Surgery Circulating Experience
- verifiedAt least one year RN coordinator or Charge RN experience
Nice to Have
3-5 years of Ortho or Neuro Surgery Circulating Experience in a Level I or II hospital setting. At least one year of RN coordinator or Charge RN experience. Current specialty certification(s) as appropriate for unit or service.
