As a Registered Nurse (RN), you're the engine and the heart of patient care at Rochester Regional Health. You make a positive difference every single day in the lives of our patients, their family members, and visitors – going above and beyond to meet their needs with courtesy, kindness, respect, and compassion.
The Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) at Rochester General Hospital is a Critical Care Unit providing specialized care for patients recovering from surgery. This role exists to ensure a safe and monitored transition from the operating room to full recovery, bridging the gap between anesthesia and general ward care.
In this position, you will monitor and assess patients' vital signs as they recover from anesthesia, identifying and addressing any complications or changes in patient conditions promptly. You will educate patients and families on post-operative care and recovery expectations, while collaborating closely with anesthesiologists, surgeons, and other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient care.
Your day involves promoting and restoring patients' health by completing the nursing process, performing various treatment procedures, and providing physical, educational, and emotional support to patients, friends, and families. You will also supervise assigned team members and maintain effective communication to convey patient health status, treatment plans, and progress to the interdisciplinary health team.
