About the Role
The Outpatient Neurology RN will work in the lumbar puncture clinic, performing lumbar punctures on adult patients with neurological concerns. You will function within the Mayo Clinic Nursing Professional Practice Model, which includes accountability for planning, implementing, evaluating, and communicating all phases of nursing care for assigned patients.
In this role, you will be accountable for the coordination of nursing care, including direct patient care, patient and family education, and transitions of care. You will work closely with neurologists in an outpatient setting, supporting professional nursing practice across the continuum of care. The position offers opportunities for leadership through preceptor roles, informal and formal leadership activities, and quality improvement efforts. You will delegate patient care according to skill level, experience, patient acuity, fiscal accountability, and resource availability.
