This position serves as a specialized Unit Educator within the Medical Department, functioning as a master teacher, preceptor, and clinical resource. The role is designed to bridge the gap between advanced nursing expertise and frontline patient care, ensuring that evidence-based research is seamlessly integrated into daily clinical protocols.
You will act as a clinical instructor for students from the College of Nursing while maintaining your own clinical skills by providing direct care to a diverse patient population spanning neonates, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics. The position requires a proactive approach to patient safety, encouraging active participation from patients and caregivers in their own care plans.
As part of the MDC - Medical team, you will collaborate closely with the Clinical Educator, Clinical Nurse Specialists, Specialty RNs, and Unit Directors. Together, you will develop and implement curricula, coordinate in-service training, and drive strategies to enhance specialized patient care. Your work ensures adherence to hospital policies while fostering an environment of continuous professional growth and quality improvement.
Candidates must possess a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) and an active RN license in New Mexico. Essential experience includes 18 months of directly related clinical practice. Additional language skills (Spanish, Keres, Tewa, Tiwa, Towa, Zuni, or Navajo) and a Master's Degree (MSN) are considered nonessential but may be advantageous.
Successful candidates will be required to obtain specific certifications, including CPR/BLS within 30 days and Unit-Required Certifications (such as BLS, ACLS, NRP, PALS, TNCC) within 90 days. The role involves working in conditions that may include exposure to chemical and biohazardous materials, as well as potential risks associated with combative patients. Security clearance for the MDC is a mandatory condition of employment.
This is a full-time, day-shift position with a minimum offer of $42.82/hr and a maximum offer of $46.82/hr. The compensation package includes a $6.00/hr safety incentive pay, a sign-on bonus, and relocation assistance. Compensation is determined based on factors including experience, education, and organizational needs.
