As we work together to put the needs of the patient first, we are also dedicated to our employees, investing in competitive compensation and comprehensive benefit plans to take care of you and your family, now and in the future. With continuing education and advancement opportunities at every turn, you can build a long, successful career with Mayo Clinic.

Our reputation has spread beyond our Minnesota roots to major campuses in Phoenix/Scottsdale, Arizona; Jacksonville, Florida; Rochester, Minnesota; and international locations. Each Mayo Clinic location is a special place where employees thrive in both their work and personal lives.

About the Role

You will join the Mary Brigh 6D unit, a progressive care environment specializing in adult heart and lung transplant patients and cardiac surgical patients. This 14-bed unit provides specialized care for procedures such as coronary bypass grafts, valve repair/replacements, left ventricular assist devices, and congenital anomaly repairs.

Care in this unit is relationship-based, focusing on physiologic monitoring, patient education, and discharge planning through a collaborative multidisciplinary approach. You will provide extensive education to newly transplanted heart and lung patients, covering medications, lab and vital sign monitoring, lifestyle modifications, and emotional support. The role assumes responsibility for ECG monitoring with rhythm identification and interpretation, as well as managing equipment such as temporary pacemakers, chest tubes, central lines, and nasogastric tubes.

The unit environment encourages professional development, teamwork, and shared governance, striving for continuous improvement through evidence-based practice. As a Registered Nurse, you will function within the Mayo Clinic Nursing Professional Practice Model, accountable for planning, implementing, evaluating, and communicating all phases of nursing care. You will also provide leadership through preceptor roles, informal and formal leadership positions, and quality improvement efforts.

Hiring Process

For new graduate nurses, please apply through the Nurse Residency Program, which is specifically designed to support your transition into professional nursing. Within the application process, you may indicate work units and specialties of interest. If selected, you will meet with a Nursing Placement Coordinator to explore opportunities best aligned with your professional goals.

This role is eligible for TN sponsorship, provided successful sponsorship requires state licensure and completion of the VisaScreen or equivalent certification.

Equal Opportunity

All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, national origin, protected veteran status, or disability status. Mayo Clinic participates in E-Verify and may provide the Social Security Administration and, if necessary, the Department of Homeland Security with information from each new employee's Form I-9 to confirm work authorization.
