About the Role
At Masonicare's Crosby Commons in Shelton, CT, the Resident Care Assistant serves as a vital partner to licensed nursing staff, dedicated to maximizing residents' independence, freedom of choice, and quality of life. This per diem position is designed for individuals who wish to support the daily well-being of seniors through compassionate, resident-centered care.
In this role, you will act as a resident advocate and ambassador, fostering a supportive environment that honors the heritage and wisdom of our community. Your day involves collaborating with colleagues to assist residents with essential activities of daily living, from personal hygiene and dressing to meal assistance and mobility support. Beyond direct care, you will help maintain a safe and comfortable living space by performing light housekeeping, managing laundry, and ensuring environmental safety. You will also play an active role in the community by supporting resident activity programs and participating in staff meetings to stay updated on care guidelines and regulations.
As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for observing and reporting changes in residents' physical and emotional status, documenting care activities, and responding appropriately to emergencies. This position requires a high degree of tact and diplomacy, particularly when navigating sensitive situations or communicating with families and visitors.
Hiring Process & Application
To apply for this per diem position, candidates must possess a current State of Connecticut CNA certificate. While CPR certification is preferred, the role includes on-the-job training to ensure all team members are fully equipped to meet the unique needs of our residents.
