National Railroad Safety Services, Inc. (NRSS) is a certified DBE/WBE firm and the most trusted name in the railroad industry for providing qualified field safety staff and safety training. NRSS serves major railroads, smaller rail lines, transit systems, state transportation projects, and contractors across the continental United States, Canada, and Mexico. The company is dedicated to handling any project with a proven safety record.
Safety is a core value at NRSS. All employees must prioritize safety above all else, operating under the principle that no job is so urgent that it cannot be done safely. This commitment ensures the protection of workers, customers, and communities while maintaining leadership in railroad safety.
As a Railroad Flagger, you will play a critical role in keeping workers safe on train tracks by controlling train movements and enforcing federal safety rules. This position supports a diverse range of clients, from Class 1 railroads to state transportation projects. You will coordinate activities at job sites, lead safety briefings, and serve as the primary point of contact for dispatchers, train crews, and contractors. The role requires a high level of organization and the ability to build strong client relationships while ensuring all contractors meet necessary training requirements.
This is a field-based position that demands physical resilience and adaptability. You will work in dusty, noisy environments and must be prepared to handle extreme weather conditions, ranging from intense heat to freezing cold. The role involves standing for long periods, walking on uneven ground, and lifting up to 50 pounds. Travel is a significant component of the job, with an average of 50% to 85% travel expected, often requiring long periods away from home, including stays lasting months at a time.
Candidates selected for this position must successfully pass pre-employment and recurrent background checks, as well as drug and alcohol testing. All new hires are required to complete mandatory classroom training before beginning their duties.
National Railroad Safety Services, Inc. is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer. We consider qualified applicants regardless of background.
