National Railroad Safety Services, Inc. (NRSS) is a certified DBE/WBE firm and the most trusted name in the railroad industry for providing qualified field safety staff and safety training. With a proven safety record, NRSS serves major railroads, transit systems, state transportation projects, and contractors across the continental United States, Canada, and Mexico.
Safety is a core value at NRSS. We operate under the principle that no job is so urgent that it cannot be done safely. Our mission is to ensure the protection of workers, customers, and communities while maintaining leadership in railroad safety.
As a Railroad Flagger, you will play a critical role in keeping workers safe on active train tracks by controlling train movements and enforcing federal safety rules. This position supports a diverse range of clients, from Class 1 railroads to smaller lines and state DOT projects.
You will be the frontline guardian of on-track safety, coordinating activities at job sites and leading safety briefings before work begins. Your day involves communicating clearly with dispatchers, train crews, and contractors to ensure everyone adheres to strict railroad, state, and federal regulations. You will also be responsible for spotting rule violations, ensuring contractors meet training requirements, and completing daily reports on work activities.
This is a field-based role requiring significant travel (50% - 85% on average), often for extended periods. You will work in diverse environments, ranging from dusty and noisy sites to extreme weather conditions, requiring the ability to stand for long periods and navigate uneven ground.
Candidates selected for this position must successfully pass pre-employment and recurrent background checks, as well as drug and alcohol testing. All new hires are required to complete mandatory classroom training before beginning field duties.
National Railroad Safety Services, Inc. is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer. We consider qualified applicants regardless of background.
