As a Railroad Flagger, you will serve as a critical guardian of safety on active train tracks. This role is designed to keep workers safe by controlling train movements and strictly enforcing federal safety rules. You will support a diverse range of clients, from Class 1 railroads to state DOT rail divisions, ensuring that all field operations adhere to rigorous engineering and safety standards.
This position is highly mobile, requiring you to travel 50% to 85% of the time, often for extended periods. You will operate in a dynamic field environment, coordinating activities at job sites and communicating clearly with dispatchers, train crews, and contractors. Your day-to-day involves leading safety briefings, monitoring for rule violations, and completing detailed daily reports to maintain on-track safety compliance.
Candidates selected for this position must successfully pass pre-employment and recurrent background checks, as well as drug and alcohol testing. All new hires are required to complete mandatory classroom training before beginning field duties.
