As the sole designer, builder, and refueler of U.S. Navy nuclear aircraft carriers and one of two providers of U.S. Navy nuclear submarines, our diverse team of professionals ranges from skilled trades to engineers, software developers, and technical subject matter experts. We collaborate at the forefront of technology, manufacturing, and the integration of the most powerful and survivable naval ships in the world.
This position serves as an instructor within the Radiological Training for Nuclear Engineers (Article 109 RTNE) program, developing and delivering initial and continuing radiological training for nuclear engineers at NNS. In this capacity, you will evaluate, implement, and control the company's radioactive waste management programs to protect against radiation hazards. You will recommend and develop policies for inspection standards, decontamination procedures, emergency protocols, and waste handling. The role involves controlling personnel radiation exposures, environmental releases, and surface-type contaminants while staying abreast of federal, state, local, and industry regulations to ensure compliance.
Beyond classroom instruction, you will prepare and administer retention of knowledge examinations, maintain administrative training records in both physical and digital formats (including LX), and implement continuous improvement initiatives for training operations. Success in this role requires creating a positive learning environment and demonstrating professionalism, leadership, and radiological expertise both inside and outside the classroom.
