This position serves as an instructor within the Radiological Training for Nuclear Engineers (Article 109 RTNE) program. You will develop and deliver initial and continuing radiological training for nuclear engineers at NNS to support Article 109 qualification. Beyond the classroom, you will prepare and administer retention of knowledge examinations, maintain administrative training records, and implement continuous improvement initiatives for training operations.
In this role, you will design, develop, and test nuclear equipment and systems while conducting research on new materials of special interest in nuclear reactors. You will study the nuclear fuel cycle to define the most economical uses of material and the safest means of waste product disposal. Your work will also involve radiation transport modeling, statistical analyses, and performance metrics to recommend technology options for system, process, facility, or program improvements regarding safety, performance, efficiency, and costs.
Success in this role requires demonstrating professionalism, leadership, and radiological expertise both inside and outside the classroom. You will create a positive learning environment and encourage a principles-based approach to applying radiological controls. While the role involves significant technical research and instruction, it also requires strong proficiency with MS Office suite, particularly presentation software, as well as experience with Success Factors, CheckBox, and other learning development platforms.
