About the Company

The Middlesex Corporation is a nationally recognized and award-winning leader in the heavy civil construction industry. Since 1972, this family business founded by Robert W. Pereira has built an extensive client and project list through consistent efforts to safely build America's infrastructure. The company specializes in building and reconstructing highways, bridges, marine, rail, and transit facilities through a collaborative team approach and a focus on core values.

In addition to its core construction operations, Middlesex Asphalt in Central Florida stands as one of the largest and most productive asphalt plants in the United States, while Middlesex Paving has earned an equally solid regional presence and reputation.

About the Role

The Purchasing Director serves as the strategic leader for the corporate purchasing function, driving procurement policies and negotiating high-value agreements to ensure cost efficiency and alignment with project schedules. This role is critical to the company's success, as it manages the procurement of materials, equipment, subcontracts, and temporary facilities required for complex construction projects.

In this position, you will work closely with project leadership, estimating, legal, and executive management to foster strong vendor and subcontractor partnerships that provide long-term value and a competitive advantage. You will oversee the entire procurement lifecycle, from developing company-wide best practices and prequalifying vendors based on financial stability and safety performance to resolving critical issues regarding delays, quality, and shortages. The Director ensures that all contractual agreements are accurate and complete while monitoring spending trends to identify cost-saving opportunities and improve forecasting accuracy.

Our Culture and Values

Middlesex Corporation is built on a foundation of integrity, ethical decision-making, and corporate social responsibility. We value adaptability, strong leadership, and the ability to collaborate across diverse personalities and management styles. As a family business, we prioritize the safety of our infrastructure and the well-being of our team, fostering an environment where professional judgment and strategic thinking are essential.

Benefits and Perks

We offer our full-time and eligible part-time team members a comprehensive benefits package that is among the best in our industry. This includes medical, dental, and vision plans covering eligible team members and dependents, employee assistance programs, life insurance, and disability coverage. We also provide a top-tier 401(k) with matching, tuition reimbursement, an industry-leading referral program, and generous paid time off.
