As a Field Service Technician, you will serve as the frontline expert for repairing, reconditioning, and servicing Caterpillar and Empire line allied machines, systems, and components directly in the field. Your mission is to ensure equipment reliability by troubleshooting and diagnosing malfunctions, preparing units for delivery, and maintaining the highest standards of operational safety.
This role is critical to supporting our corporate marketing objectives by maintaining strong client relations and delivering timely, high-quality service. You will be the technical voice for equipment conditions, communicating complex repair processes and recommendations clearly to associates, clients, and management. The position demands adaptability, requiring you to work in adverse weather conditions, travel to remote locations, and accept out-of-town assignments with extended overnight stays.
Your day involves a blend of hands-on technical work and strategic communication. You will utilize diagnostic equipment, including computerized instrumentation, to identify issues within machine and engine systems. Beyond repairs, you will manage the cost of repair jobs, prepare detailed service reports, and ensure all company equipment remains in good, clean, and orderly condition.
You will also play a mentorship role, providing on-the-job training to technicians and helpers as assigned. Success in this position requires strict adherence to safety policies, as this is designated as a "Safety-Sensitive Position" where tasks could impact the safety of yourself or others. You will navigate environments ranging from loud industrial settings to extreme weather conditions, always prioritizing safety and professional conduct.
