LAC Federal is seeking an engaging and service-oriented Instructional and Public Services Librarian to support a federal scientific library. This position is designed to deliver high-level instructional services, public-facing library support, outreach, and user engagement activities within a specialized federal scientific environment.
The role serves as a critical bridge between complex scientific information and the researchers, scientists, analysts, and staff who rely on it. You will promote the effective use of library collections, databases, research tools, and scientific information resources, ensuring that the scientific community has access to the data they need to succeed.
In this role, you will conduct advanced reference and research services, performing complex literature reviews and information retrieval using authoritative scientific resources. You will analyze publication and citation metrics to support program reviews and research evaluation activities. A significant portion of your time will be dedicated to developing research deliverables, such as briefing materials and environmental scans, and providing expert guidance on search strategies and citation management.
Beyond research, you will develop and deliver training sessions, webinars, and instructional materials to empower users. You will also participate in outreach activities to promote library services and collaborate with federal library staff on strategic initiatives. Ensuring compliance with accessibility standards and supporting institutional repository initiatives will also be key components of your daily workflow.

Experience supporting federal scientific or technical libraries. Familiarity with environmental science, climate science, oceanography, meteorology, geospatial science, or related disciplines. Experience with bibliometric and visualization tools such as Web of Science, Scopus, Dimensions, Tableau, Power BI, or Python-based analytical tools. Experience supporting institutional repositories, metadata management, or scientific publishing workflows. Experience conducting outreach, training, or instructional services. Familiarity with Section 508 accessibility requirements. Experience working with federal research organizations or laboratories.
