The Public Policy Associate serves as a vital support to United Way of Greater Cleveland's advocacy efforts, focusing on the social safety net and economic opportunity across Northeast Ohio. Reporting to the Senior Director of Public Policy, this position is designed to ensure that policy initiatives are meticulously documented, organized, and executed. The role acts as a bridge between complex legislative developments and actionable internal strategy, requiring a professional who can thrive in an execution-focused environment while managing multiple deadlines and high-stakes communications.
Your work will center on synthesizing complex policy information into clear, concise summaries for diverse audiences. You will conduct local, statewide, and national research on critical issues such as SNAP, Medicaid, TANF, affordable housing, and benefit cliffs. A significant portion of your time will be dedicated to event and meeting preparation, coordinating logistics for advocacy days, legislative briefings, and community conversations. You will draft outreach materials, briefing documents, and meeting minutes, ensuring all communications are accurate and ready for external stakeholders. Additionally, you will support stakeholder engagement by preparing materials for meetings with legislators and government officials, and by presenting United Way priorities to community partners.
