Reporting to the Executive Vice President for Policy & Analytics, the Director of Policy leads All Voting's public policy portfolio. This role is pivotal in developing advocacy positions and building broad coalitions to advance the organization's pro-voter agenda. The Director will shape policy perspectives, manage complex projects, and engage in media efforts to promote democracy reforms across both All Voting and AVL Action.
The position serves as a subject matter expert on election administration and voting rights, bridging the gap between rigorous research and on-the-ground community needs. You will analyze legislation and court rulings to produce strategic briefs, navigate federal and state lobbying regulations, and foster bipartisan relationships with government officials and coalition partners. This role requires a blend of high-level strategic planning and hands-on execution, including testifying at hearings and translating complex policy issues into accessible messaging for the public.
We encourage candidates who are excited about this role to apply even if their experience does not align perfectly with every single qualification. Studies show that women and people of color are often less likely to apply unless they meet 100% of the requirements, yet diverse perspectives are essential to our mission.
All Voting is dedicated to building a diverse, inclusive, and authentic workplace. We are an equal opportunity employer and value a culture of inclusivity and belonging. We encourage applications from all individuals without regard to race, color, sex, gender identity, gender expression, religion, age, national origin, ancestry, disability, medical condition, family care status, marital status, sexual orientation, genetic information, military or veteran status, or any other basis protected by federal, state, or local laws.
