LeConte Medical Center is a 79-bed, not-for-profit community hospital located in the heart of Sevier County. As a vital part of Covenant Health, the region's top-performing healthcare network, we are dedicated to delivering modern medicine and compassionate care to our growing community. Our facility offers a full range of health services, including top-tier specialists, a modern Emergency Department, and a beautiful Women's Center.
The Patient Registration Specialist in the Emergency Department serves as the critical first point of contact for patients entering our 24/7 facility. This role is essential to ensuring a smooth patient flow while maintaining strict adherence to EMTALA guidelines and regulatory standards. You will coordinate the registration process for all emergency encounters, balancing the need for speed with the accuracy required for financial and demographic data collection.
In this dynamic environment, you will manage the front desk patient flow, notifying triage and charge nurses of situations requiring urgent clinical attention. Your day involves utilizing bedside registration processes, managing the Emergency Department Tracking board, and issuing necessary Medicare notices. You will also act as a liaison between patients, families, physicians, and law enforcement, handling sensitive tasks such as Legal Blood Alcohol/Toxicology registration and providing information to Ambulance Services. The role requires the ability to de-escalate difficult situations, work efficiently during computer network downtimes, and rotate through various shifts to meet the demands of a 24/7 operation.
