About the Role
The Project Manager for Early Phase (EP) serves as the strategic bridge between Parexel and our sponsors, leading cross-functional teams to deliver tailored clinical research solutions. This position is designed for a professional who combines deep clinical research experience with agile project management skills to drive operational excellence. You will be the central point of contact for sponsors, responsible for navigating complex project landscapes and making informed, independent decisions that ensure successful execution of clinical trials and programs.
In this role, you will oversee the full lifecycle of Early Phase studies, from pre-award strategy and bid defense through to project close-out. Your day-to-day involves managing financial aspects such as revenue recognition and milestone payments, while ensuring strict compliance with ICH, GCP, and internal SOPs. You will lead virtual, global teams, fostering collaboration across different cultures and locations to meet ambitious timelines and budgets.
Work Environment
This is a home-based position with a strong preference for candidates located in California, Colorado, or Texas. The role requires the flexibility to manage remote teams and sponsors effectively, leveraging digital tools to maintain seamless communication and project tracking.

Key Responsibilities
- check_circleLead Parexel and Sponsor teams to develop tailored clinical research solutions
- check_circleLead projects to completion within budget and schedule while ensuring contract compliance
- check_circleMonitor study timelines, recruitment, retention, and data cleaning using CTMS
- check_circleManage financial aspects including revenue recognition, milestone payments, and invoices
- check_circleIdentify project risks and implement contingency plans throughout the study life cycle
- check_circleOversee administrative closeout procedures and lead end-of-study meetings to document lessons learned
- check_circleContribute to SOP development and provide oversight and training to Associate PMs
- check_circleManage sponsor relationships and serve as the central point of contact for functional teams
- check_circleOversee study start-up activities, site selection, and IRB/EC approval processes
Requirements
- verifiedBachelor's degree in a science-related field or equivalent work experience
- verified2 years of Project Management experience with Parexel or 3 to 5 years in related fields
- verifiedExperience as a Functional Team Leader or in coordinating clinical trials
- verifiedKnowledge of ICH-GCP and pharmaceutical industry regulations
- verifiedProficiency in MS-Office products
- verifiedPMP certification (advantage)
- verifiedAdvanced degree (preferred)
