As a Project Architect at NAC, you will serve as the guardian of architectural integrity, ensuring that every project aligns with design intent, client programs, and rigorous building codes. This role is pivotal in integrating the diverse work of consultants into a cohesive whole across all phases of development. You will act as the central hub between the Project Manager and the Principal, driving the proper execution of complex projects from conception to completion.
The position places a strong emphasis on affordable housing, requiring you to lead teams through the entitlements process with governing authorities and develop yield studies and test fits. You will be responsible for overseeing project delivery, monitoring construction conformity, and managing risks by facilitating clear communication among clients, contractors, and engineering specialists. Beyond technical oversight, you will mentor project associates and interns, fostering a collaborative environment where design quality and problem-solving thrive.
Your day will likely begin with coordinating the work of structural, MEP, lighting, and landscape consultants, ensuring all disciplines align with the master plan. You will utilize Revit and AutoCAD to assemble complete sets of contract documents and review bid specifications to mitigate potential issues before they impact costs. A significant portion of your time will be spent interfacing with building and permitting officials to navigate the complexities of zoning and building codes, including CBC Chapter 11B, NFPA, ADAAG, and IBC.
When on-site, you will conduct observations, process submittals, and manage RFIs to ensure construction matches the drawings and specifications. You will also transfer construction knowledge to clients as needed, resolving disputes and identifying problems early to minimize negative impacts on the project timeline. Occasionally, you may participate in firm marketing, proposal writing, and project interviews to help grow the practice.
Candidates must demonstrate strong analytical, oral, and written communication skills, with a proven ability to build rapport with employees, clients, consultants, and vendors. The successful candidate will have a track record of working with approval agencies and successfully delivering completed projects. We are looking for individuals who can balance the technical demands of architectural licensure with the interpersonal skills necessary to lead diverse teams.
NAC is committed to building a diverse and inclusive workplace. We consider qualified applicants regardless of background, race, religion, gender, or other protected characteristics. Sponsorship for work authorization may be considered for the right candidate.
