The Program Specialist I is an entry-level position within our Education & Prevention Team. This role exists to bridge the gap between clinical services and the community, ensuring that individuals at risk or living with infectious diseases have access to testing, education, and care pathways. You will become a vital part of our outreach efforts, working directly with clients in both clinic and community-based settings.
In this position, you will provide HIV/STI/Hepatitis C testing, risk reduction counseling, and education on Pre-exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP). You will foster new community partnerships, represent CAN Community Health at conferences, and collaborate with various disciplines to coordinate patient services. The role requires a basic understanding of HIV prevention and treatment pathways, along with the ability to conduct outreach in diverse environments such as shelters, bars, parks, and resource centers.
Standard clinic hours are Monday through Thursday from 8:00 am to 5:30 pm, and Friday from 8:00 am to 12:30 pm. This position requires flexibility to work outside normal operating hours, including nights and weekends, to meet community needs. A valid driver's license and insurance are required to operate a motor vehicle for outreach duties.
