The Community Youth Center of San Francisco (CYC) provides the youth of our city a sense of belonging and vital tools and experiences to succeed in life. Our mission is to encourage a diverse population of high-need young people to explore their full potential through academic, career, family, and community life. We offer a wide range of services including academic support, college counseling, job placement, substance use and violence prevention education, crisis intervention, leadership development, and technology training.
As a Program Leader for the Balboa After School Program (ASP) and Summer Program, you will serve as a vital link between CYC and the high school youth we serve. Under the supervision of the Site Coordinator, your primary focus is to develop, implement, and oversee a variety of academic and enrichment activities that are both fun and engaging. You will design curriculum that incorporates skill-building and project-based learning, fostering a positive and safe learning environment where students can thrive.
In this role, you will not only tutor students and assist with homework but also act as a mediator and community builder. You will collaborate with school faculty, parents, and CYC staff to coordinate cultural celebrations and culminating events that strengthen community bonds. Your day-to-day involves maintaining a supportive climate, managing classroom dynamics using restorative practices, and ensuring the program spaces are organized and welcoming. This position is designed for someone passionate about youth development who can balance independent initiative with close teamwork to meet strict programmatic deadlines.
This is a temporary, non-exempt position with a schedule that shifts based on the school year. From June 1, 2026, to June 10, 2026, the role is part-time (up to 25 hours per week). From June 11, 2026, to July 17, 2026, the role transitions to temporary full-time (40 hours per week). The Program Leader reports directly to the Site Coordinator.
