This role is part of the Transportation Services Group (TSG), which consists of over 80 full-time staff focused on surface transportation projects across Nevada, Idaho, Utah, Colorado, Washington, Oregon, and Wyoming. The group currently manages over 200 active projects, ranging from local roadways and intersections to interchanges, roundabouts, and active transportation initiatives. About the Role

As a Professional Transportation Engineer – Lead, you will work within our successful Reno, Nevada office to drive the planning, design, construction, and permitting of a wide variety of transportation projects. You will serve as a technical leader, applying civil engineering knowledge to deliver comprehensive packages of reports, studies, and drawings for local agencies and State DOTs, including projects utilizing both local and federal aid funds.

In this position, you will collaborate with traffic engineers, structural engineers, and other specialty disciplines to ensure high-quality deliverables. You will operate CAD tools like Autodesk Civil3D or Bentley OpenRoads Designer to produce alignments, models, and plans using current standards. Your day-to-day involves analyzing engineering data to produce final documents, including project plans, cost opinions, construction drawings, and feasibility analyses.

Beyond technical execution, you will mentor younger staff such as EITs, drafters, and designers, while supervising support staff assigned to projects. You will also assist in business development by building client relationships and supporting the preparation of proposals. The role requires attending client and public meetings to discuss project details and coordinating with utility companies, as well as performing periodic fieldwork including construction observation and project reconnaissance.
