The Production Operator is a dynamic, rotation-based position within our Crown Health Care Laundry plant. The primary purpose of this role is to facilitate the end-to-end processing of linens destined for hospitals and medical facilities. You will rotate through various critical stages of the production process, including receiving, sorting, washing, drying, ironing, and loading, ensuring that every item meets our high standards for quality and safety.
This role exists to support the continuous flow of sterile linens to our healthcare partners. Because production needs fluctuate, assignments are determined by current hiring needs and operational levels in either the "Soil" or "Clean" production areas. You will be expected to learn and operate various production equipment, with a typical learning curve of 2–5 working days per position. Standards must be met within two weeks of hire and sustained throughout your employment.
Your day will involve moving between different operational zones to keep the production line running smoothly:
Soil Operations: You will safely sort returned, soiled linens into appropriate classifications. This involves opening heavy bags (approx. 45 lbs), spreading product on the soil belt for visibility, and sorting items into bins. You will also float between multiple positions on the work platform to ensure linens are sorted safely and accurately. Additionally, you may assist in cleaning, sterilizing, and lining carts to prepare them for the clean production side.
Clean Operations: In this area, you will rotate through specialized roles such as Catcher, Hand Fold, Ironer, or Shipping Clerk. As a Catcher, you will secure linen carts, stack linens per customer standards, and identify quality issues like stains or non-Crown items. As a Hand Folder, you will manually fold and stack items coming from the washer or presser, making quality decisions on whether items need rewashing. As an Ironer, you will feed flat sheets and pillowcases into the ironer machine, ensuring safe handling and identifying defects. As a Shipping Clerk, you will build finished carts, weigh them, record order data, and load delivery trucks.
Throughout your shift, you will work as part of a tight-knit team where communication is key. You will be responsible for identifying machine jams (contacting maintenance only when necessary), adhering to strict safety protocols, and making real-time quality decisions to ensure the final product is perfect.
We are looking for individuals with excellent teamwork skills who are willing to move between all jobs via rotation when needed. While a High School Education or GED is preferred, the most important qualification is your ability to learn quickly and adapt to the needs of the plant.
All Production Operation employees must be able to perform the essential functions of the job, with or without accommodation. You will be required to perform other duties as assigned and must adhere to all quality and safety standards. Note that the Shipping Clerk position specifically requires a Hep B shot.
At Crown Health Care Laundry, safety and quality are our top priorities. We foster a culture where employees are empowered to make quality decisions and where teamwork is essential to meeting our daily production standards. We are committed to providing a safe working environment and expect all employees to operate equipment in a manner that meets and exceeds customer expectations.
We consider qualified applicants regardless of background and are dedicated to building a diverse and inclusive workforce.
