The Production Operator is a dynamic role within Crown Health Care Laundry, designed to support the critical mission of delivering sterile linens to hospitals and medical facilities. This position is not static; operators are placed in various roles across the "Soil" and "Clean" production areas based on daily hiring needs and production levels. The primary purpose is to facilitate the end-to-end lifecycle of linen processing, including receiving, sorting, washing, drying, ironing, and loading.
You will learn to operate various production equipment to meet and exceed customer expectations in the safest possible manner. The role requires a willingness to rotate through different positions, with a typical learning curve of 2–5 working days per station. Standards must be met within two weeks of hire and sustained throughout employment. Whether working in Soil or Clean operations, you will be expected to perform other duties as assigned and adhere strictly to all quality and safety standards.
Your day will likely involve moving between different stations to ensure the production line flows smoothly. In the Soil Operations area, you might be opening customer returned bags (weighing approx. 45 lbs.), discarding packaging, and sorting soiled linens into appropriate classifications on a belt. This is a team effort where you float between positions to ensure linens are sorted safely and accurately, while also managing the cleaning and sterilization of carts for reuse.
In the Clean Operations area, your responsibilities shift to the finishing stages. As a Catcher, you will secure linen carts, stack items from the folder machine, and make quality decisions to remove non-Crown items or stained linens. As a Hand Folder, you will manually fold, stack, and place items from the washer or presser onto carts, often collaborating with partners on larger items. As an Ironer, you will feed flat sheets and pillowcases into the ironer machine, monitoring for jams or quality issues. Finally, as a Shipping Clerk, you will build finished carts, weigh them using software, track order completion, and load delivery trucks, ensuring every shipment is accurate and ready for the next day's deliveries.
Candidates selected for this position will be placed in roles that best match production needs and their individual skills. The company values excellent teamwork and the ability to move between jobs as needed. While a High School Education or GED is preferred, the focus is on your ability to learn quickly and perform essential functions with or without accommodation.
