This position is dedicated to creating an outstanding customer experience through exceptional service. You will be responsible for establishing and maintaining a safe, clean environment that encourages customers to return, while achieving sales and profit goals for the Produce department. The role requires monitoring all functions, duties, and activities to ensure quality assurance standards are met.
You will serve as a key representative of the company's core values: respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion, and safety. By fostering trust and respect among associates and maintaining a positive attitude, you will help build a team culture that empowers everyone to meet or exceed targets through teamwork.
Your day will involve a dynamic mix of leadership, customer engagement, and operational management. You will communicate departmental information to associates, develop adequate scheduling to manage customer volume, and participate in the training and performance appraisal process.
A significant portion of your time will be spent directly with customers, creating an environment where they feel welcome, important, and appreciated. You will answer questions regarding products, offer samples to help customers discover new items, and inform shoppers about produce specials. Simultaneously, you will review and inspect products for quality and freshness, ensuring the highest standards are maintained.
On the operational side, you will develop and implement a department business plan, execute sales promotions in partnership with store management, and assist in preparing budgets and financial reports. You will also manage inventory processes, maintain temperature logs for cases and coolers, and ensure all safety programs are reinforced by identifying unsafe conditions and practicing preventive maintenance.
Candidates must demonstrate the ability to work cooperatively in a high-paced and sometimes stressful environment. The role requires the ability to manage conflict in a reasonable, nonconfrontational manner and to act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information. Support and assistance will be provided through direct interaction with minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
