The Procedural Support Assistant is an integral member of the procedural team within the Department of Pain Medicine. This role assists with delegated tasks of direct and indirect patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse and/or physician. You will interact professionally with patients, treating them with dignity and respect while following the designated plan of action as directed by the physician.
In this position, you will support diagnostic, interventional, and therapeutic procedures such as Epidural Steroid Injections, Genicular blocks, Epidural blood patches, Spinal Cord Stimulator trials, Platelet-rich plasma (PRP), bone marrow aspirate concentrate (BMCA), and Peripheral Nerve Stimulator placements. Your day-to-day responsibilities include the care, handling, and processing of pain medicine procedural equipment, as well as the turnover of procedure rooms. You will work across fluoroscopy suites, ultrasound suites, and the recovery room, operating radiofrequency ablation and ultrasound machines. Additionally, you will be responsible for setting up sterile fields and prepping patients prior to procedures.
This role requires demonstrating knowledge of the principles of growth and development across the life span, interpreting information relative to a patient's age-specific needs, and communicating data reflective of the patient's status. You must be flexible, easily adapt to a changing work environment, and remain calm under stress while maintaining positive communication in a dynamic setting.
