This position is designed for a skilled professional to perform advanced patient care within the emergency department setting, operating strictly within the state-approved scope of practice. The role is critical in ensuring a safe, comfortable, and therapeutic environment for patients and their families during high-acuity situations.
You will be the first point of contact for many patients, receiving emergency medical telephone calls and providing immediate care to the injured or ill. A key aspect of this role involves managing the flow of the department by ensuring an equal distribution of arriving patients among the team. You will also coordinate transfer arrangements with EMS agencies for patients requiring further care, directing ambulance crews to the appropriate areas of the ED.
In this varied shift environment, you will monitor patients using advanced systems, document findings accurately to initiate charges, and maintain detailed dispatch records. The role requires close collaboration with nurses, providers, and external stakeholders to ensure seamless patient admissions, transfers, and discharges. You will also play a vital role in maintaining emergency supplies and equipment, ensuring the department is always ready for emergent situations.
