Presbyterian exists to improve the health of patients, members, and the communities we serve. Founded in New Mexico in 1908, we are the state's largest private employer and a locally owned, not-for-profit healthcare system. Our network includes nine hospitals, a statewide health plan, and a growing multi-specialty medical group. With nearly 14,000 employees and more than 580,000 health plan members, we are deeply committed to the well-being of New Mexico.
This position serves as a vital link in our emergency department, performing advanced patient care within the state-approved scope of practice. You will be the first point of contact for many patients, receiving emergency medical telephone calls and providing immediate care to those who are injured or ill. The role requires you to ensure a safe, comfortable, and therapeutic environment for patients and their families while managing the flow of arrivals and coordinating with EMS services.
In this dynamic setting, you will monitor patients, maintain accurate medical records, and document findings to initiate charges. You will also assist in maintaining emergency supplies and equipment, ensuring that all systems function correctly. The position involves collaborating with nurses, charge nurses, and providers to share pertinent patient changes and facilitate admissions, transfers, and discharges. Whether managing cardiac monitors or directing ambulance crews to the appropriate area, your work ensures equal distribution of patients and seamless care transitions.
We believe that how you grow, learn, and thrive matters. Presbyterian offers a comprehensive suite of support to help you succeed in your career and personal life. Our staff safety initiatives include wearable badges that allow nurses to quickly and discreetly call for help when safety is a concern. We provide educational and career development options, including tuition and certification reimbursement, scholarship opportunities, and loan forgiveness through the New Mexico Higher Education Department.
Our commitment to well-being extends to a fun, engaging wellness program featuring free on-site and community-based gyms, nutrition coaching, mindfulness resources, and wellness challenges. Additionally, we offer malpractice liability insurance and competitive differentials for night/weekend shifts, higher education, certifications, and various lead roles.
Presbyterian Healthcare Services is an AA/EOE/VET/DISABLED employer. We are a drug-free and tobacco-free organization with smoke-free campuses. We consider qualified applicants regardless of background, race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, or veteran status.
