Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Principal Systems Safety Engineer to join its team of diverse and qualified individuals. This position will be located in Huntsville, AL, supporting the Sentinel (GBSD) program within the Strategic Deterrent Systems (SDS) division.
The Sentinel program offers an exciting opportunity to join a team supporting critical activities including use case development, requirements definition and allocation, functional decomposition, interface definition, verification and validation, and requirements traceability. You will collaborate with program Integrated Product Team (IPT) counterparts to develop supporting systems engineering and design artifacts. This role involves working with both technical teams and stakeholders to develop and mature the architecture content of large program designs, ensuring that appropriate requirements are properly represented in the model. Additionally, you will contribute to system requirements development, management, and analysis, while helping to develop unifying model techniques, procedures, and processes for tool and team integration.

2+ years of System Safety Engineering experience conducting comprehensive system safety analyses IAW MIL-STD-882E (including PHA, FHA, SHA, and O&SHA). Experience executing processes in the Engineering and Manufacturing Development Phase. Software development or coding experience. 2+ years of experience using DO-178 for design development. Experience developing in an Agile environment. Experience with requirements tools such as DOORS, Cameo, Agile software tools, JIRA, and/or Confluence. Experience in Hardware/Software Integration. Scrum Master or Product Owner experience. Experience with developing, reviewing, updating, and approving system safety artifacts and system safety requirements. Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) experience. Experience developing missile flight systems software. Associate Safety Professional (ASP) or Certified Safety Professional (CSP) Certificate. Weapon System experience (Minuteman III or similar military or industry experience).
