As the Site Asbestos Coordinator at the Knolls Laboratory in Niskayuna, NY, you will lead the Asbestos Program, serving as the primary expert for resolving technical issues related to asbestos compliance. This role is vital to ensuring our adherence to safety and legal standards while supporting the broader mission of the Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program.
In this position, you will act as the certifying official for Asbestos Building Inspectors (ABIs) and Asbestos Competent Persons, owning the continuing training program and maintaining accurate qualification records. You will manage the routine asbestos air sampling plan and serve as the point of contact for all NESHAP-related inquiries regarding renovation or demolition work, preparing and submitting necessary regulatory notifications to the EPA. Additionally, you will collaborate with other Site Asbestos Coordinators to share learning and identify areas for improvement, ensuring the highest standards of safety and compliance across the site.

Experience with asbestos abatement oversight. Strong understanding of asbestos requirements (OSHA 1926.1101, NYS Code Rule 56, NESHAP) and work practices. Excellent communication skills, including the ability to prepare formal notifications. Experience using SharePoint and Microsoft Office. Ability to work with medium cross-functional teams. Strong project management and organizational skills, with attention to detail. Proven ability to develop and deliver training programs.
