We bring the strength of more than 100 years of experience and renowned engineering expertise to meet the needs of today's mission and stay ahead of tomorrow's threat. Our team solves tough, meaningful problems that create a safer, more secure world.

About the Role

The Shipboard Effectors Department is seeking an experienced Principal Mechanical Engineer to support Standard Missile products and subsystems. This role is designed to drive the design, development, and production support of critical defense systems. You will work within a fast-paced, team environment to solve complex engineering problems involving large structures, welded assemblies, component integration, and mechanisms.

In this position, you will collaborate across multiple disciplines, including Structural and Thermal analysis, Materials Engineering, Quality, Safety, and Supply Chain. You will lead teams with limited supervision, ensuring commitments for assigned schedules, financial goals, and technical objectives are met. The role requires a deep understanding of thermal, structural, dynamic, and reliability analysis to provide inputs that shape mechanical designs.

This is an onsite position located in Tucson, Arizona, supporting the 2nd shift (Monday – Friday, 3pm – 12am). The role may require up to 10% travel to government suppliers and other Raytheon facilities.

Hiring Process and Application

As part of our commitment to maintaining a secure hiring process, candidates may be asked to attend select steps of the interview process in-person at one of our office locations, regardless of whether the role is designated as on-site, hybrid, or remote. RTX anticipates the application window closing approximately 40 days from the date the notice was posted, though business necessity may alter this timeline.

Culture and Values

Our values drive our actions, behaviors, and performance with a vision for a safer, more connected world. At RTX, we value Safety, Trust, Respect, Accountability, Collaboration, and Innovation.
