Northrop Grumman's Defense Systems sector is seeking a Principal Material Process Engineer to join the Sentinel program in Roy, UT. This role sits at the intersection of design application and manufacturing control, ensuring streamlined risk identification and mitigation for weapon systems and equipment. You will operate within an overarching Systems Engineering framework, developing comprehensive strategies for large-scale aerospace and ground control system component manufacturing.
In this position, you will work independently to provide innovative technical solutions to complex problems, utilizing literature review and testing as appropriate. A key part of your day involves creating, analyzing, and producing roadmaps, impact reports, and issue reports to present data to stakeholders, customers, and upper management. You will maintain close coordination with several integrated product teams, collaborating with systems engineers, design engineers, project managers, and reliability engineers to establish clear traceability between part/material design documentation and system performance.
The role requires a willingness to work onsite in manufacturing settings, including clean rooms or hazardous areas, and involves up to 15% domestic travel for supplier visits, audits, and technical briefings. The standard work schedule is a 9/80 plan, allowing employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.
