Wells Fargo is seeking a Principal Government Commercial Banking Relationship Manager to lead strategic growth within the Gulf region as part of the Commercial Bank. This role is designed to act as a trusted advisor to large government entities, including cities, counties, school districts, utilities, and transit authorities. The selected candidate will deliver tailored financial solutions while navigating the unique complexities of public sector operations, funding mechanisms, and regulatory environments.
In this position, you will serve as a strategic partner to financial decision-makers, proactively managing expectations and providing insights that foster long-term partnerships. The role requires deep expertise in structuring complex credit facilities, analyzing budget documents, and leading the delivery of customized banking solutions across treasury management, capital markets, and bank credit. You will also drive innovation in public finance products, such as tax-exempt lending and sustainability-linked loans, while collaborating with product teams to align solutions with public sector mandates and long-term capital planning.
Beyond client management, this role involves providing thought leadership on cross-functional initiatives to enhance public sector banking capabilities. You will influence enterprise-wide strategies regarding digital transformation and intergovernmental partnerships, while serving as a mentor to junior colleagues and a subject matter expert on public sector banking. Success in this role demands a balance of building strong customer relationships with a strong risk-mitigating and compliance-driven culture, ensuring all activities adhere to municipal rules and procurement ethics.

Demonstrated ability to build long term relationships with government clients and extensive experience with the RFP process. Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of core banking products and services, such as commercial lending and treasury management with focus on the public sector. Experience developing and maintaining external partnerships with Financial Advisors and key stakeholders. Completion of formal credit training program. Demonstrated experience working collaboratively to deliver the organization to clients and prospects. Demonstrated experience generating new client relationships, building and retaining long-term client relationships. Experience identifying and mitigating risk, ensuring compliance with processes and procedures. Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
