We are seeking a Principal Engineer to serve as a senior technical leader within our Engineering team, reporting directly to the Director of Engineering. This role is pivotal in bridging the gap between complex customer specifications and actionable engineering execution for the railroad industry.
As a Principal Engineer, you will act as a strategic partner to our sales and design teams. Your day-to-day involves translating customer needs into Functional Design Specifications (FDS) that guide the engineering team in creating machine layouts for maintenance-of-way equipment. You will drive the integration of mechanical, electrical, fluid power, and software elements, ensuring that every design meets rigorous functional and performance standards.
This position requires a high degree of creativity and latitude. You will lead the creation and review of bid packages, manage technical queries and change orders, and provide expert technical support to both internal stakeholders and external customers. While much of the work is focused on design and analysis, the role may also involve traveling to customer job sites to evaluate problems and report findings directly to management.
Our team specializes in heavy machine manufacturing for the railroad sector. We operate within a highly regulated environment where familiarity with A.R.E.A. and AAR standards is essential. We value engineers who understand the unique constraints of the rail industry, including the ability to think practically and authoritatively to accommodate deadlines, budgets, and resource limitations.
We utilize artificial intelligence (AI) tools to assist in reviewing applications and analyzing resumes. These tools support our recruitment team but do not replace human judgment. Final hiring decisions are made by humans. If you would like more information about how your data is processed during this process, please contact us.
