You will join the Cardiometabolic Disorders Discovery Research Group in Thousand Oaks, CA. This group leverages state-of-the-art technologies and broad expertise to generate foundational biological insights that inform therapeutic development for cardiovascular disease. As part of Amgen's Research & Development Postdoc Program, the team is dedicated to training the next generation of biomedical scientists to make both fundamental and translational contributions to the fields of biochemistry and cell biology.
This is a vital, academic-style training position designed for a highly motivated and creative scientist. In this role, you will advance the understanding of the biochemical and cellular mechanisms underlying cardiovascular disease by applying interdisciplinary approaches to investigate proteins encoded by recently discovered genetic risk factors. You will conduct cutting-edge research to interrogate cellular pathways that go awry in cardiovascular disease, interacting and collaborating with cross-functional scientists to gain exposure to the broad process of drug discovery. Your work will aim to make novel discoveries that contribute to the broader field, disseminated through impactful publications and conference presentations.

Strong foundation in molecular and cellular biology with a track record of independent research, demonstrated through first author publications; Expertise in mechanistic biochemistry and/or cell biology in mammalian systems; Experience studying vesicular trafficking and/or the endolysosomal system; Hands-on experience with techniques such as mammalian cell culture and transfection, SDS-PAGE and immunoblotting, immunofluorescence and live cell imaging; Excellent critical thinking, organizational, and communication skills; Ability to stay current with scientific literature and apply insights to experimental design and interpretation; A strong passion for discovery and advancing new areas of biology.
