T-Solutions is a woman-owned, veteran-owned business based in Chesapeake, Virginia, serving as a preferred partner for global services and innovative solutions. We specialize in creating exceptional, responsive solutions to complex challenges for government clients in the defense, security, and logistics sectors. Our team of highly qualified professionals is dedicated to delivering services with integrity, aligning our core competencies with our customers' current and future needs to support mission-critical operations.
As a Port Engineer, you will serve as T-Solutions' onboard representative, playing a crucial role in ensuring the operational readiness of our ships. You will lead a maintenance team and act as the primary liaison for the Type Commander (TYCOM) and the Commanding Officer regarding all off-ship maintenance and modernization efforts. Your in-depth knowledge of the operational and maintenance needs of your assigned vessels will be essential in maintaining mission readiness.
In this role, you will routinely validate shipboard conditions through personal observation and evaluation. You will manage the online database for all jobs, review work specifications, and coordinate schedules with repair activities. Your day-to-day involves meeting with the ship's crew, department heads, and commanding officers to discuss the Consolidated Ship's Maintenance Plan, provide risk assessments, and present details on the Planning Board for Maintenance. You will also attend ship maintenance events to answer real-time questions regarding logistics, funding, and mission impacts.
This position requires a low level of travel (5-15%) to Fleet Concentration Support areas. You should expect frequent underway time for sea trials, testing, inspections, and ship checks. Duties may include attending ship deployments, port-to-port transfers, mid-deployment voyage repairs, and sister ship visits. The role demands the physical ability to traverse stairs, fixed ladders, and ladder wells frequently, as well as the capacity to spend several consecutive days at sea while underway.
Candidates must be U.S. citizens and possess a valid Driver's License and reliable transportation. While an active DoD Secret security clearance is highly desired, candidates eligible to obtain and maintain one will be considered; a contingent offer will be extended pending the granting of a fully adjudicated clearance. A valid passport or the ability to obtain one is also required.
T-Solutions is proud to be an Affirmative Action/Equal Opportunity Employer. We consider qualified applicants without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, or protected veteran status, and we do not discriminate based on disability. We are also a Veteran-Friendly Employer, ensuring that qualified applicants are not discriminated against because of their status as a protected veteran or their relationship with one.
