About the Role

The City of Hallandale Beach is seeking a Certified Police Officer to perform a wide variety of law enforcement activities, including patrol, investigation, and traffic regulation. Working under the direct supervision of a Police Sergeant and command staff, this role is vital to maintaining public safety and order within the community.

Hiring Process & Application Instructions

Applicants selected for consideration will be invited to take a written civil service exam; participation is mandatory for the position. The selection process is extensive and may include a background investigation, psychological evaluation, polygraph examination, medical evaluation, and a controlled substance screen.

All minimum requirements will be reviewed during the orientation and information session. Candidates must provide documentation at the time of application demonstrating they meet all position requirements.

Compensation & Benefits

Newly hired officers are eligible for a $20,000 sign-on bonus, distributed as $7,000 immediately upon hire and the remaining $13,000 upon satisfactory completion of the probationary period. Additionally, eligible officers may receive a one-time Florida Law Enforcement Recruitment Bonus Payment of $5,000 after taxes.

Certified Police Officers with qualifying experience and FDLE certification are eligible for a higher entry rate of pay based on their background. Starting salary cannot exceed the years of experience minus one pay grade year.
